Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Osborne

Rachael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Northern Virginia, right outside of Washington DC, so I’m very much a city girl! About 2 years ago, my husband and I moved to Denver for new opportunities. He was looking for a new job and at the time I was working remotely as a software engineer.

My degree is actually in mechanical engineering but I ended up working in software for a few years. And I was very proud to be in the tech field. I’ve always wanted my life to be a testament to what’s possible and an inspiration to others. And I knew I was bringing fresh perspectives into the workplace as a minority woman.

At the same time, I started to feel that it wasn’t the right field for me. I debated leaving engineering. We absolutely need more representation in tech. We need more women and we need more people of color. And I was really good at what I did! So I almost felt a sense of guilt for leaving. But I also knew there were other ways to change lives and inspire people.
